Ian M Tait - Director
Ian commenced his aviation insurance career in 1977 with an international broking company and during that time he obtained experience overseas in the London and South African markets. He became the National Aviation Insurance manager in Australia for this company prior to forming his own aviation insurance broking company in 1993. His business was purchased by the Australian Aviation Underwriting Pool in 1988 and he was appointed Queensland Manager of the Australian Aviation Underwriting Pool.
Ian returned to broking in 1993 when Aviation Insurance Brokers of Australia was established at Archerfield Airport. The company has since grown to the largest Australian owned and independent aviation insurance broker under his management.
Ian holds a private pilots licence with a command instrument rating and owns a fleet of single and multi engine aircraft which gives him an acute insight into the operation and ownership of an aviation business. He is a Qualified Aviation Insurance Broker and a Fellow of the National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia as well as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has a MBA and is presently studying a post graduate course in Aviation Risk Management through RMIT University.
